Well the Summer heat has arrived, it was around 30C today which is unusual for PEI where in Summer it is more like 24C and 18C at night. Kept all the curtains closed to keep the house cool. I also opened the roof of the car to let the excessive hot air out. The seats are black leather, luckily I have A/C. This is suppose to continue for another 3 days. So I decided to tackle the closet in the Den today, it is full of stuff, a lot of it forgotten. So much went into the garbage and some was given away and one piece of art bought in Poland 25 years ago I gifted to a good friend of ours who lives in St-Nicholas on the South shore West of us. He is a Polish Count and will appreciate this piece. I am also looking forward to seeing his vineyard and how it is coming along. He paints and has hobbies, can be very eccentric. His mother lives in Austria and they are related to the Hapsburg. We will see him on Saturday, they have a very large piece of land and they rent parts of it to farmers to cultivate cereals and potatoes.

So the move is coming closer in earnest, I will pack certain items, valuables, liquor and wines and move the plants myself. I have always done this in the past, when it comes to valuables I do not want the movers to see anything. Not that they are not honest, all are bonded, but I prefer to be discreet on that topic. We still have to do the storage closet and hope we can get rid of things. Then the china cabinet needs a good going through. It is obvious we are not going to give grand dinner parties like in days of old, no staff and it is too much work. Keep it simple. Summer Solstice is tomorrow according to the calendar.

We now have an account for the new building, we have a website for residents, highly computerize. We will meet with the Building Manager and go through the does and don’ts. We also have to think of a plan for Nicky on the day of the packing and move. I do not want him to be stressed out. He may not understand what is going on. Some 9 years ago when we moved to PEI a distance of over 1100 Km both Nora and Nick were confused with the goings on and they were then only 6 years old. Nora is gone now and its Nick and us. Today with the heat he slept all day in the shade and only got up to drink water. A wise thing to do when it is this hot. Parliament also rose today after Question Period, so no parliamentary work until 15 September, when MPs leave Ottawa for a break it is much more quiet in town. Apparently we will get our Member of Parliament knocking on our door this Summer, this could be a sign that we may get an election in the Fall before Diwali, the Hindu festival of lights. It also has to do with MPs pension rules. Given the generous pensions Parliamentarians vote themselves, one understands why you have to think about when an election can take place. If there is to be an election, Prime Minister Trudeau has until 1 July to resign his post, so a new party leader can be elected. That is of course if he chooses not to run again, but that does not appear to be in his cards.
